Competency 2 - Hardware & Operating Systems

Instructions for Competency 2

Remember:
Competency 2 will require each staff member to send 4 separate emails.

Email # 1 - There are 12 components in Competency 2. The first seven components of this competency can be measured by using a training resource offered by GCF Learn Free located here: http://www.gcflearnfree.org/computerbasics

Once you've finished that training course, you will find a 15 question, multiple choice quiz at the bottom of that website. Please take the quiz, score 90% or better, and take a screen shot of your score. Send your score to  mpkcmlibrary@gmail.com
(I'm using that email address because I always run out of room in my cmlibrary email account.) The quiz will cover the first 7 components of Competency 2.

Email #2 - For component #8 (Assistive Technology), please review the information regarding our assistive technology, including the Circulation Policy, in the black binder. Then, take the 10 question quiz by visiting this link: http://tiny.cc/8quiz
In order to demonstrate competency, you should score 90% or better. Once you've finished the quiz with a score of 90% or better, take a screen shot of your certficate and send it to mpkcmlibrary@gmail.com

Email #3- For component #9, scan a document, any document, and email it to yourself from the workroom scanner. Then, forward the document as an attachment to mpkcmlibrary@gmail.com

Component #10 - we all do these functions on a daily basis, so by coming to work every day, we've already demonstrated compentency. NEXT!

Email #4 - For components 11 & 12, please review the GCF Windows Basics training course found here: http://www.gcflearnfree.org/windowsbasics
Then score 90% or better on this quiz: http://tiny.cc/windowsbasicsquiz and email your certificate to mpkcmlibrary@gmail.com

The deadline to have these measurements finished is Friday, March 25.

As always, if you need help, have questions, suggestions, comments, find errors, or would like to measure your competency in another way, please let me or Trilby know.

P.S. Don't forget to list your weekly progress on the Google Drive spreadsheet Justin created called Digital Competency Progress Schedule. You can find it in the ALL THINGS DIGITAL folder. Use the tabs at the bottom of that spreadsheet to access different weeks.
